BIO
Sincere, charismatic and determined, Seb Szabo has never been afraid to be himself. In 2022, his voice and artistry have never been stronger - nor as vulnerable.
Born in California and raised in Melbourne, the Australian songwriter bloomed late, attending law school while secretly writing songs. Beginning his solo career supporting San Cisco at university in 2019, the 26-year-old has become a mainstay of Victoria’s hardworking music scene.
With a soaring, yearning voice evoking Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Seb’s songwriting bursts with life and energy, blending cinematic indie rock reminiscent of Gang of Youths with thoughtful lyricism to paint colourful canvases of life and love.
His first EP, the autobiographical voyage "Staring Out The Windows", was released in July 2021, telling sun-soaked stories of young romance. After a string of sold-out headline shows and an appearance on "The Voice Australia”, his tender duet with ARIA nominee Gretta Ray "Twice Over" was added to Triple J Unearthed rotation.
His defiant and punchy new single “Leaning On You (Wrecking Ball)” manifests a new, bolder creative vision, forged in Szabo’s own battles with mental health. Produced by Dave Jenkins (Vera Blue, Ben Lee, Not A Boy's Name), the song embraces the arena rock that soundtracked his youth.
Through anxious times, the chemistry between Seb Szabo and his band has expanded even further - diving into the darkest recesses of the psyche, translating our deepest, most powerful emotions live onstage into something awe-inspiring.
